The title, which was founded in 1983, has a strong R&B theme to it due, as this was one of the main genres the magazine started with. However, as the magazine transitioned into modern age, the focus changes a lot to Hip-hop. The magazine title still heavily relates to hip-hop as rap music is often described as having a 'good vibe' to it meaning it is staying popular and relevant in the internet age.
